Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 18, 2026 · Placeholder — not legally binding
⚠ This is a sample placeholder document. Replace it with your actual privacy policy before launch.
Consult a legal professional if you need a compliant policy.
1. What We Collect
When you use RL-HUD we collect:
- Second Life data — your SL username and UUID, provided automatically by the Second Life platform when you wear the HUD.
- Character data — first name, last name, sex, and age that you choose to enter during setup.
- Game data — character stats, XP, level, balance, inventory, and activity logs generated through normal gameplay.
- Portal data — a hashed password (we never store your password in plain text) and the timestamp of GDPR/terms acceptance.
- Technical data — IP addresses for rate limiting and login tracking. These are not sold or shared.
2. How We Use It
- To run the game — sync your stats between the in-world HUD and the web portal.
- To enforce age-restricted item rules based on your character age.
- To prevent abuse — rate limiting, ban enforcement, and cheat detection.
- To provide customer support via CSR and admin tools.
3. What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your data to third parties.
- We do not use your data for advertising.
- We do not collect real-world identity information — character data is fictional roleplay data.
4. Data Storage
Your data is stored on a secured server. Passwords are stored as bcrypt hashes and are never recoverable in plain text. Game data is retained for as long as your account is active.
5. Your Rights
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us in-world or through the portal. Note that some data (such as transaction records) may be retained for a limited period for integrity purposes.
6. Third-Party Services
RL-HUD operates within Second Life, which has its own Privacy Policy. We do not control data collected by Linden Lab.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
